First off I DO like the food here. That's why I go there, or used to after last night. I lived in Troy for 15 years or so years past. Actually just 3 miles away from Sylvan Glen GC/Camp Ticonderoga. I currently reside in SH...13 miles/30 mins away from Camp Ticonderoga.
So our family went for the 'every Monday 11.99 prime rib after 5pm' last night (first time for Monday PR). We arrived at 8pm. Sit down, order drinks. Then I'm told they're sold out of prime rib since 6pm. That's one hour. I was wondering why the promotion was still being displayed outside on the led screen if they're sold out. Then I was thinking of ordering a Filet Mignon, $24...then stopped, told everyone let's go somewhere else. Felt like the old bait and switch was trying to be pulled on me. Ended up at Red Lobster just driving north on Rochester (our bill was $150). There also is a Olive Garden, Chilis, as well as other chain restaurants going north on Rochester Rd toward Rochester Hills. CJMahoneys just b4 Auburn is good.
Don't know why they didn't have prime rib. Manager was trying to talk some bullshit to me. I bet if we were caucasian, she might have offered a % off or free dish. But no, not for chinks. Just know that they had prime rib for 1 hour. What a half assed promotion. I bet they could sell their remnant PR just telling the waiters an waitresses to mention that they have some to every table. Not have some bullshit $11.99 limited quantity promotion to 'get you in the door' and to free their leftover PR from the weekend b4. Don't get scammed!!!
So I decided to never patron this establishment again. It's a business I understand. Why not call the Monday prime rib for 11.99 after 5pm what it really is, a remnant sale with some fresh product. How do you sell out in 1 hour? Remnant from the Fri/Sat prime rib, that's what I think.
If you pull anything from my rant, you don't have to settle for anything. If you don't get what you were expecting, just leave. There are definitely other places to eat. You deserve better than to be bait and switched on.
IT'S YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY$$$. SPEND IT WITH BUSINESSES WITH GOOD PRACTICES.
'Occupy' the restaurants. lOl 777
[My review contains speculative analysis for reasons why things turned out the way they did. Maybe I'm the only one, but not from what I hear.]
In my opinion, Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky would love Camp Ticonderoga.
Some key facts:
#my aunt and uncle never had prime rib. I was so excited to see what they thought.
#i called at 5:30pm, half hour in to make sure they were serving prime rib. (i have the recorded phone call). Never mentioned that they were running out, gonna run out, need to hurry, limited quantities. all I know I wasn't able to order prime rib. b.s.
#what a disappointment, to sit 6 people and not even eat at the damned place. yes, I damned the place. sorry troy.
#definitely NOT A STEAKHOUSE. Call and ask what steaks they offer. 1, filet mignon and weekend prime rib. hilarious.
#not in the restaurant biz, but I would think Mondays would be slow. there's motive to 'get you in the door'. again, this is speculative
BOTTOM LINE: Camp Ticonderoga had prime rib available for 1 hour on 11.21.11 before selling out (5pm - 6pm).
