7-UP is my favorite un-cola

Seems all I post is crap that's bothering me.  So this blog post is about my favorite childhood drink, 7-UP.

It's friggin' delicious.  Way better than Sprite, Sierra Mist.  I believe it was the original un-cola drink.

I love 7-UP.

Deactivated My facebook

So deactivated my facebook yesterday.  I just don't use it as much.  I kinda prefer twitter.  More random.  What you tweet doesn't really mean too much.  I kinda use it a lot to vent against current events.

One thing I have noticed, if it's gonna be on the news, it'll probably trend on twitter first.

I prolly will reactivate the account at some time.  Wanna see how long I can go without it.  Will post a 'reactivated' blog on here to document when that happens.

My Camp Ticonderoga Yelp Review (Troy, MI)

5725 Rochester Rd
Troy, MI 48085
(248) 828-2825
First off I DO like the food here.  That's why  I go there, or used to after last night.  I lived in Troy for 15 years or so years past.  Actually just 3 miles away from Sylvan Glen GC/Camp Ticonderoga.  I currently reside in SH...13 miles/30 mins away from Camp Ticonderoga.

So our family went for the 'every Monday 11.99 prime rib after 5pm' last night (first time for Monday PR).  We arrived at 8pm.  Sit down, order drinks.  Then I'm told they're sold out of prime rib since 6pm.  That's one hour.  I was wondering why the promotion was still being displayed outside on the led screen if they're sold out.  Then I was thinking of ordering a Filet Mignon, $24...then stopped, told everyone let's go somewhere else.  Felt like the old bait and switch was trying to be pulled on me.  Ended up at Red Lobster just driving north on Rochester (our bill was $150).  There also is a Olive Garden, Chilis, as well as other chain restaurants going north on Rochester Rd toward Rochester Hills.  CJMahoneys just b4 Auburn is good.

Don't know why they didn't have prime rib.  Manager was trying to talk some bullshit to me.  I bet if we were caucasian, she might have offered a % off or free dish.  But no, not for chinks.  Just know that they had prime rib for 1 hour.  What a half assed promotion.  I bet they could sell their remnant PR just telling the waiters an waitresses to mention that they have some to every table.  Not have some bullshit $11.99 limited quantity promotion to 'get you in the door' and to free their leftover PR from the weekend b4.  Don't get scammed!!!

So I decided to never patron this establishment again.  It's a business I understand.  Why not call the Monday prime rib for 11.99 after 5pm what it really is, a remnant sale with some fresh product.  How do you sell out in 1 hour?  Remnant from the Fri/Sat prime rib, that's what I think.

If you pull anything from my rant, you don't have to settle for anything.  If you don't get what you were expecting, just leave.  There are definitely other places to eat.  You deserve better than to be bait and switched on.

IT'S YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY$$$.  SPEND IT WITH BUSINESSES WITH GOOD PRACTICES.

'Occupy' the restaurants.  lOl 777

[My review contains speculative analysis for reasons why things turned out the way they did.  Maybe I'm the only one, but not from what I hear.]

In my opinion, Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky would love Camp Ticonderoga.

Some key facts:
#my aunt and uncle never had prime rib.  I was so excited to see what they thought.
#i called at 5:30pm, half hour in to make sure they were serving prime rib.  (i have the recorded phone call).  Never mentioned that they were running out, gonna run out, need to hurry, limited quantities.  all I know I wasn't able to order prime rib.  b.s.
#what a disappointment, to sit 6 people and not even eat at the damned place.  yes, I damned the place.  sorry troy.
#definitely NOT A STEAKHOUSE.  Call and ask what steaks they offer.  1, filet mignon and weekend prime rib.  hilarious.
#not in the restaurant biz, but I would think Mondays would be slow.  there's motive to 'get you in the door'.  again, this is speculative

BOTTOM LINE: Camp Ticonderoga had prime rib available for 1 hour on 11.21.11 before selling out (5pm - 6pm).

My Last McDonalds Meal

So it's 9:25am in Detroit.  I'm grabbing my usual breakfast from McDonalds. Sometimes I would get breakfast burritos.  Sometimes its sausage mcmuffins.  But today, Monday 10-17-2011...I felt like treating myself to a Sausage Egg McMuffin.  I say treat because Sausage McMuffins are $1.  A Sausage Egg McMuffin is $2.79.  So in essence, the egg is $1.79.  A bit of a gouge if you ask me.  But today I'm willing to pay it.  I order a large sweet tea for $1 to go along with it.  I get to my work and open my sandwich.  Take a bite, and realize there is no egg.  I'm upset.  I knowingly paid the $1.79 for the egg, and don't even get it.  I'm already at work and can't leave.  I call corporate and they say they'll forward my situation to the store.  (they called it a restraunt, but that's like calling a porta-potty a bathroom).  So I got in touch with the store manager April.  I was just asking for the difference, $1.90 (1.79 + 6% sales tax). She said the best she could do is give me a free meal.  Now the free meal is worth more than my 1.90...but that forces me to deal with McDonalds again, and that I don't appreciate. So because your franchise made a mistake, the resolution is for me to continue to do business with you.  Brilliant if you're a fan or stock holder or employee.  Reinforce the brand even in adverse situations.  Truly is brilliant.

But I, even if it's just for myself, am bucking the trend.  So, as of today 10-17-2011, I will never eat at or from McDonalds again.  F U Ronald, you f'n clown.  I'm done feeding the corporate monster that is McDonalds.

BTW, I'm claiming my free meal.  I'd be a fool not to.  There's a homeless man that hangs around there from time to time.  I'll claim the meal when I see him around and give it to him.

Comcast, the conclusion, if there is such a thing.

Looks like Comcast is allowing us to end our contract with them. Turns out the early termination fee for us is $1,537. Not the couple hundred I was assuming it was.

So I'm done posting videos, blogging. I have to start thinking of my health. Believe me, the stress of Comcast, their contract, and not having a choice...it would cause stress for anyone.

My conclusion and opinion...COMCAST SUCKS!!!

Believe me, I have better things to do. But I promise you too now Rhonda, I will post my experiences with Comcast for as long as we have this inferior service!!! What would you do? How would you react if I robbed your house, which is what is happening when we lose CC transactions because your phone service is down.

Seriously, I'm getting sick of having to post all this shit to prove that Comcast Sucks!!!  Only reason is because I have no other choice, because we are locked under contract.  I'm getting a headache just having to go through all these steps to record the problems that are happening.

Comcast Trouble - (Blogspot seems the best to log troubles)

Jerry!! Jerry!! Watching on a new channel, IMAGINATION.
So once again, our Comcast Business Class is down. This time the video. The quality of service is horrible. We've been having trouble with Comcast from the beginning. The most important fact about the situation, WE ARE UNDER CONTRACT. Early termination fees apply. So just to document, I'm going to start logging and bloggin' my troubles with Comcast. We should be allowed out of the contract due to inferior service. We do have Internet, Voice, and TV.

Oh yeah, the only way to watch t.v.
I wouldn't recommend Comcast Business Class. Phone is unreliable at times. This has caused us problems with Credit Card transactions depending on the phone line. (I have proof of this problem).

Comcast, well, I think their slogan should be... "You have no other choice, so who cares if we suck."

Here's why I think our service is so bad.
1. there's no competitor to drive quality and excellence.
2. we are already under contract, so why spend the resources to make sure our service is working right.
3. they probably won't do anything about it, so just let them be

Well, the least I can do is document to the fullest exent each time our service goes down.

Oh BTW, our Comcast Voice was out Saturday, July 27th, 2011.  Called customer service, CLOSED on Saturdays.  But our business was open.

My suggestion, do not get Comcast if you're seeking true reliability, especially with voice.

receipt of 7.27.11 service call..."SETUP LINE CALL" means further service required

Oh yeah, if Comcast were so great, I wouldn't be posting this.  I wouldn't be calling technical support filling out support tickets.  I would be watching television (this time instead of using our neighbors credit card terminal next time because our phone will be out instead).  Watching tv instead of blogging on 'how bad Comcast sucks'.   Well duh, and obviously.  Jeesh.

MyFitnessPal.com

Been using this app for my Android phone for a couple months now, and I have to admit, it has given me insight as to how much I actually do eat.  And in some situations, why.

It's pretty easy, just enter your weight, goal weight, height, gender, birth date, and activity level.  Just log what you eat and that's all.  The database is pretty large, but sometimes you have to lookup foods yourself on Google.  I always overestimate what I eat, and be sure to count drinks as well.

I've lost as of today 7 lbs., as much as 10 lbs.  I've learned a lot of how many calories certain foods have.

It's worth doing.  My current goal is to 'retrain' my body and mind to maintain my new and current eating habits.

Excellent score.  Reminded me of Eric Serra.  Motif oriented, kinda like most adventurous suspensful dramas imo.  I'm reminded of National Treasure and Phenomenon.

The doors was a rip of Matrix 2, but otherwise an original twist to reality.

Great score.

Ode to Yamaha R6, 2004 version

So I sold my 2004 lowered Yamaha R6 yesterday and I have to admit, I'm slightly saddened.  I have some great memories riding that bike, and some not so great ones too.  I've learned a few things on that bike, and how fast one of these speed demons can go.

The fastest I've ever taken this bike was 150mph.  The only thing that freaked me out was the shaking of my helmet.  I'd say there are a few things that one should know if you're gonna take any bike fast...

1.  Look down the road.  --- I think it's important to keep your eyes down the road, rather than right in front of the bike, especially if you're gonna ride the bike fast.  This is a good practice in general as you will find it easier to ride the bike and take turns with ease.

2.  Read traffic. --- Watch for car's making left turns in front of you.  Also, when switching lanes at high speeds, best to make sure the next 2 lanes are open.  I believe this eliminates swithcing into the same lane as another vehicle.

3.  The reverse steer. --- This is probably the most important fact about a bike that I've ever learned.  It's going left, but turning away from the direction you're trying to go.  Then straightening out by correcting the steer.  So to go right, I turn the handlebars left.

4.  Watch for other fast moving vehicles --- I'd say try to calculate how fast they're moving to go faster than they are so you don't cut them off.  I'd say this is a good tip in general, whether driving a car or riding a bike.  Don't forget the cars in front of you too.

5.  Sometimes fast is not an option --- If there's traffic, you can't go fast.  I believe there are different levels of recognizing traffic.  Sometimes I'm amazed at the openings some people can find.  And I'm amazed sometimes when someone races ahead of me, only for me to pass them driving normal because they got caught in congestion.

I'd say it's fun to ride fast, but not worth dying for or endangering those around you.  Be smart, and safe.

When I say slightly saddened, I mean the option for me to ride anytime has left.  I mean I could get another bike if I wanted to, but I probably won't.

I'm happy to say that my bike will give the chance for another to learn how to ride.  I wish him good luck and pleasant experiences.

Ride the bike, don't let it ride you.  Respect the power, and you'll have it in the palm of your hands.

I will miss the feeling of riding.  The low hand as you pass other bikes.  It really was like a fraternity.

I thought I had more to say.

May 1, 2011... Osama Bin Laden Dead

I believe it when it is said that this is an important accomplishment for America.

I first heard of 9/11 on finance yahoo.  The page read "Markets closed due to terrorist attacks".  It might have been a Monday...not sure.

Today the words from Obama...we can do anything we set our mind to...thank you Mr. President.  I think your speech was awesome.  Very positive in all aspects.

So that I remember today....Mike...you ate a 2 Hamburger meal from McDonalds for brunch...with a large sweet tea.  Played golf and shot 41-47 (hit your driver like crap) @ Plumbrook...and ate 5 White Castles with everything with a half sack of clam strips with 3 packs of tarter sauce.  Was watching Golf Channel, went on the mobile and read someones FB status...Osama is dead.

I am happy as an American today.  God Bless America.  Thank you to those who protect her and her interests.

P.S.  Terrorism sucks!

Why Buffets Are Successful...My Opinion

"You go home now.  You been here 4 hours!!!!"

So my parents want to have dinner together last night, and they felt like eating some crab legs, so we went to Fuji Buffet in Madison Heights, MI.  I've been to this particular buffet many times, so there were no surprises and I knew exactly what to expect.

I always start with sushi, maybe because it makes me feel like I'm getting my $20 worth, plus it never fills me up.  Sushi there is okay, not the worst I've tasted and definitely not the best, but not bad.  Next I moved to the crab legs...and for the first time, they were really salty.  It was a Friday and the place was pretty busy.  Now I wanted to complain, but what are they gonna do, make me a special batch of crab legs???  If I owned a buffet, I'd be like, hey, pick another food. (Genius1:can't really complain)

Though the crab legs weren't to my standard of good, I continued to finish the plateful that I grabbed.  Then I looked around @ the selection of food and came to the realization that this food really doesn't taste that great.  It's mass prepared, and has been sitting around for a little.  If you took this food, took it to a restaurant where you'd pay per dish, you'd probably never go back to the place.  But the fact that it's all you can eat, you feel satisfied because you are full off of mediocre food.  (Genius2:food is ready right away) (Genius3:food doesn't have to be spectacular because everyone is full off quantity not quality).

So I guess the point I'm trying to make is, I continue to go back to a buffet because the food is okay, but will always be full because it's all you can eat, therefore feeling satisfied.

I think the quality of Fuji Buffet has fallen off... I hope it was just for one night, because if the food sucks the next time I go, I predict that place will fall off and the next buffet will open soon, nearby too.

3.17.2011 - 10 Spartans vs. 7 UCLA; SE Region; Tampa, FL MYTHOUGHTS

So I did fill out NCAA Brackets @ ESPN.com. ESPN allows for 10 brackets. On one, I had the 7 SE Region Spartans winning the national championship. 7 of the remaining 9, Spartans losing to UCLA. And the remaining 2, Spartans losing in the round of 32.

Only 1 bracket of them reaching the sweet 16, and that bracket I had them winning the national championship (hey, one never knows...but not this time lol).

So to me, Spartans losing in the opening round, not too big a surprise. Still disappointed, but not let down, like a Louisville, or Penn St.  Made a couple hard pushes, but time wasn't on the side of my Spartans this year, this game.

My Game Analysis: The Spartans came out flat.  Seems UCLA's plan for the whole game, don't let Kalin Lucas get off!!!  He was played tighter than I've seen him be defended all season.  Still managed to get 11 pts, off from his average of 22 something for the late season.  The half time score was 42-24, 18 pts... Kalin Lucas 0 pts.
Another thing I knew the Spartans would have difficulty with, was the inside game.  UCLA had paint scoring, and those trees were impossible to drive on (esp. for Lucas).  Though the Spartans were able to get a couple buckets inside, it was an impossible battle.
Spartans cut the lead to 9, only to see it fall back to 17, then brought it back to 7.  Couple of 3s and fouls later, Spartans are down by 1.  That's as close as they would get... final score 76-78.  Box score of...
MSU 24-52, UCLA 42-36.  Not too bad.

Good things I would take from this season: Appling, made a couple of key 3-pointers in pressure situations.  I have hope for this freshman.  I have a feeling he will stay too.  As for Kalin, he really did what he could this game, and this season for that matter.  I think he will get drafted late 2nd round, and if he doesn't, he might play some d-league, but I think he is capable of playing in the NBA.

Ah bah dee, dah buh dee, hah buh dee   That's all folks.  This is rooney tunes!!

So I'm watching the millenium episode from season 8. Jerry is on the woman's speedial. He says, "hold on a second while I check my messages". So I think to myself, who checks their answering machine messages anymore. It's so dated. Maybe I'm trying to stay forever young.

Or maybe I just want to watch a show about nothing.

For Once, I Hope I Am Wrong

So we've reached a time in history in the Middle East... of revolutionary change in government.  It all started with Egypt.  From my understanding, that coup started with of all things a Facebook page.  Now Egypt is not what worries me, it's the other countries and their leaders.  I know in poker, when I sense weakness, I attack.  I just read that Iranian warships are entering the Suez Canal under objection of the Israeli government.  This exercise really troubles me.

I remember one thing about Armageddon and what I've learned of it through my various Sunday school classes and other resources, it starts in the Middle East.  It's no secret the troubles the Israelis and the Middle Eastern countries have, and it's rooted in religion.  Much blood has been shed and will be shed, but I hope there is peace.

Another thing that troubles me is the 2012 theory.  There was just an earthquake in New Zealand.  Now that in itself wouldn't bother me as a whole, but there have been an alarming number of natural disasters that have occured up to this date, not to mention the weird weather patterns.   Floods, tsunami's, other earthquakes in China... it's kinda freakin' me out.

2012 is still less than 2 years away, I hope it's the opposite of what I'm thinking or just nothing at all.  Maybe in 2012, a new element will be discovered and all diseases and hardships will be cured with it.

I hope.

MegaMillions 330 Million...

(from my phone)

So the MegaMillions jackpot was 330 million dollars last night. Found out this morning 2 people hit it and it wasn't me. I bought 1 ticket, all I really wanted was some action.

It was funny, I had some discussions with customers and saw news reports...everyone's so excited. Funny thing to me is that whether the jackpot is 1 million or 9 billion, the odds of winning do not change on 1 ticket. Its the fact that many more people will be playing increases the probability that someone will win it.

Now...i think the odds of mega are like 1 in 133 million... Now if those odds are correct....why wouldn't someone just play all 133 million combinations? I'm sure it is gonna happen, unless it's illegal in some way. Don't know.

Oh, well....i wanted to be a mega-millionaire, so frickin' ba-ah-ad.
