Spartan Football 2010 Regular Season

2010 was a near-perfect season for the Spartans.  I agree with the BCS standings.  State has 1 loss along with wisconsin and ohio state to share the Big Ten Conference Championship.  Though State beat wisconsin, we lost to iowa and pretty badly, whom both wisconsin and ohio state beat.

My best moments of the season:
  • MSU beats ND in OT with the "Little Giants" fake fg play
  • MSU beats Wisconsin @ home, was close, but not that close
  • MSU beats the wOLVERINES @ the bIG hOUSE for their 3rd consecutive victory in the series.  wOLVERINES got spanked, coming into the game undefeated.  Silenced all that dENARD for Heisman talk.
  • MSU scores 22 pts in the 4th quarter to defeat purdue on senior day.  I never lost hope but things were looking bleak.  Spartans displayed great resilience that game.
  • MSU wins it's final 3 games after losing @ iowa
  • Greg Jones gets his Big Ten Championship.  He returned for his senior year just for that.  I think he'll go first round in the draft.
  • Mark Dantonio wins Big Ten Coach of the Year
I can't help but to think of 1999.  The Spartans are aligned to play in the Capital One Bowl this year, the same bowl we played in 1999 (was the Citrus Bowl back then).  I was thinking back then the same thing I'm thinking now, we have an outstanding head coach for our program.  Nick Saban was the head coach back then then abruptly left for LSU.  No need to discuss Nick Saban's accolades, but he's got them.  For me, Mark Dantonio is the conintuation of what I thought the Spartan program could be then, today.

I'm excited to see what Spartan football can do in the future especially for the long term.  Next year may not compare to this year, but our program is in prime position to do well in the Big Ten, maybe the top teir of the national rankings.  Pre-Season 2011 top 10/25 for sure with most players returning and good recruiting class.

Go GREEN!
