Brittany Murphy : Nov 10 1977 - Dec 20 2009 RIP

I enjoyed Brittany's talent. Of course 8 mile and her acting, but also her voice. She was the voice of Luanne on King of the Hill. I also thought her singing career would progress later in her life, after the acting was done. Enjoyed her in Happy Feet as well. RIP

Spartan Football 2010 Regular Season

2010 was a near-perfect season for the Spartans.  I agree with the BCS standings.  State has 1 loss along with wisconsin and ohio state to share the Big Ten Conference Championship.  Though State beat wisconsin, we lost to iowa and pretty badly, whom both wisconsin and ohio state beat.

My best moments of the season:
  • MSU beats ND in OT with the "Little Giants" fake fg play
  • MSU beats Wisconsin @ home, was close, but not that close
  • MSU beats the wOLVERINES @ the bIG hOUSE for their 3rd consecutive victory in the series.  wOLVERINES got spanked, coming into the game undefeated.  Silenced all that dENARD for Heisman talk.
  • MSU scores 22 pts in the 4th quarter to defeat purdue on senior day.  I never lost hope but things were looking bleak.  Spartans displayed great resilience that game.
  • MSU wins it's final 3 games after losing @ iowa
  • Greg Jones gets his Big Ten Championship.  He returned for his senior year just for that.  I think he'll go first round in the draft.
  • Mark Dantonio wins Big Ten Coach of the Year
I can't help but to think of 1999.  The Spartans are aligned to play in the Capital One Bowl this year, the same bowl we played in 1999 (was the Citrus Bowl back then).  I was thinking back then the same thing I'm thinking now, we have an outstanding head coach for our program.  Nick Saban was the head coach back then then abruptly left for LSU.  No need to discuss Nick Saban's accolades, but he's got them.  For me, Mark Dantonio is the conintuation of what I thought the Spartan program could be then, today.

I'm excited to see what Spartan football can do in the future especially for the long term.  Next year may not compare to this year, but our program is in prime position to do well in the Big Ten, maybe the top teir of the national rankings.  Pre-Season 2011 top 10/25 for sure with most players returning and good recruiting class.

Go GREEN!

bOISEsTATE @ nevada 2010 the good and the bad of it

So bs lost to nevada in what was dubbed the most important game in nevada football program history. I would go even further and say in all of wac football history.

24 games. I believe it was 3 straight seasons boise st. went undefeated 'till running into the wolf pack (i didn't even know nevada's mascot 'till last night, which goes to show how big this win was for nevada and the wac...well maybe I did. But really was reminded. Jus making a point). Winning that many games for most other teams in other power conferences wouldve been considered utter dominance....but the wac isn't considered a power conference, but maybe now it will be a contending conference. There can never be only 1 team dominating, unless you schedule a hell of a non-conference schedule. Notre dame comes to mind for me. Though being independent, they play an outstanding non-conf schedule. So if they did go undefeated like boise st did, there would be no question or debate of their worthyness to play @ the biggest dance.

To boise st's credit, their non-conf schedule did get tougher, but not tough enough for critics. And the pouting continued for boise st fans. Enough so that everyone outside boise just wanted to see them lose. The biggest claim I heard is, why doesn't anyone of these big conf teams want to come and play on the blue field? Why should and would they. It'd be like umich wolverines travelling to appalacian st to play. I still don't understand how boise st could feel so entitled to play for the national championship. Strength of schedule broncos.

With this nevada victory, it gives the conference some level of credability. now we know boise can be beat within their conference. So if boise st goes undefeated again like they did (which they won't), they would get more support for their bids for the national championship game.

Well those are my thought on that for now. Its a little early for me so I'm going back to bed.

Peace

Happy Thanksgiving Yo!

Yes, that is a random picture.  I was going to throw up a picture of a turkey, but hey whatever.

Watching the America's Thanksgiving Parade on WDIV Detroit.  84th annual.  I tell you what, Carmen is a cheeseball.  Detroit's parade is older than the NY city parade.  I googled who has the oldest Thanksgiving parade, turns out it's Philly.

Noon will roll up and I will watch the Lions lose to the Patriots, another Thanksgiving day tradition.  Sorry ass Lions.

I think the most exciting part of Thanksgiving is the kickoff of the Christmas season tomorrow with black friday.  hooray for that, hooray for Christmas.

Big weekend of college football this week.  Auburn will play @ Alabama, Boise St. will play @ Nevada.  MSU will play at pENN st., and finally and least, uMICH will get their ass kicked in Columbus.

Happy thanksgiving you.

Peace

My thoughts on today's big ten games

So msu scored 22 pts in the 4th to defeat purdue on senior day @ spartan stadium. The comeback was great, but what about the first 3 quarters? And the go ahead td, lucky we recovered that fumble by cousins. I tell you this, playing penn st @ happy valley is gonna be a huge task. And I've read it might be joe pa's last game, so psu is gonna be playing with emotion.

I believe the issue really lies with cousins. When he threw that pick, his confidence really dropped. I think he needs to deal with mistakes better. He'll be back a senior next year. However the season may end, I'm sure he will mature in the off-season, and come back a smarter, experienced decision maker. Maybe it's the play calling too... going too safe, but I'm no coach so maybe that is the right move to get momentum back and open it up later in the game. I really like the 5 reciever shotgun set/empty backfield for shorter yardage plays. Cousins does better with more options imo.

Now with all that being said, a win is a win, and this team knows how to win. Cousins did come alive in the 4th and made some great passes. The blocked punt displayed resilience and determination.

Now with purdue returning punts like they were, why not kick to the sidelines? Just a side thought that popped in my head. Without special teams getting good field position, purdue wasn't doin' sish.

Now looking forward... Osu will not lose to the wolverines @ the horseshoe. Wisconsin is playing a nw team without persa. Who knows though, that osu-um rivalry, wolverines may pull it off, but unlikely. Different program under rodriguez. 0 wins against ranked opponents. I'm glad I'm not a present day wolverine fan. Be looking too much in the past for comfort. But hey, they are the wolverines, and part of the big ten. They will not die off. (see wolverine fans, that's a classy way of dissin' a team. Y'all never giving credit where credit is due. Really, it stems from lloyd carr imo. But he was a winner, so whatever.) Know this, the recruiting pool is getting bigger with talent, so teams are getting better as a whole. Coaching is where winners will be distinguished. Always has been, but I believe past wolverine teams were special because of individual playmakers. Special teams and defense (howard and woodsen.) Heisman winners, individual talent along with great
coaching. Sorry, rodriguez and company sucks.

Enough about the wolverines, psu is gonna be a tough game. I hope the team shows up 'cause that iowa game was such a dissapointment (both big road games). We shall see.

A special year for the spartans. And dantonio is not going anywhere.

Penn state is no joke. Our offense really needs to show up, running and passing, and the oline better be pumped.

So if state beats psu, and the wolverines somehow beat osu @ the hshoe, we're going to the rose bowl. The realist in me says, no way osu is losing. But I can hope. As long as the spartans take care of business, it will be a successful campaign for 2010.

Go msu basketball too!

Seinfeld, the show, most used phrases

So i've been watching seinfeld for a while. Phrases that I always seem to hear...

i'm kinda in the middle of something here

wait, i see what's going on here

don't you see whats going on here

My Big Ten FBS Outlook, 11.18.2010

So pURDUE is visiting E.Lansing. I watched some of the mICHIGAN/pURDUE game and pURDUE is undersized. This game should be a rout. 33-9. Keyshawn is coming back for this game. He is an important part of special teams/offense.

wISCONSIN is visiting mICHIGAN. I think this one will be close. wISCONSIN will come off that 80+ pt game soft. robinson will probably have a good game, he's a little overdue. robinson throwing too many picks, he must be getting some guidance on that from the coaches. he gets his passing game down, will open the d for him to run. close, but wISCONSIN by 3.

oHIO state is visiting iOWA. This one is hard to call. But I like iOWA @ home. This one could go either way, but my hope is that iOWA pulls off the win. iOWA came off the wISCONSIN loss strong, can they do it again this week?

Mike's eBay listing of the week

So Mike has decided to sell an item a week on eBay. Actually, my sister has inspired me after seeing her listing.

I've sold on eBay before, and trust me, those eBay and PayPal fees suck pee pee. I sometimes wonder how those eBay retailers even make money.

It can't be a bad thing pulling in extra money, even if it may be a loss.

MSU on bye; my upset pick

I think iowa will lose @ northwestern. I'm calling this based on the near win iowa got @ indiana. And nw plays that wildcat offense. Could be an interesting game.

Let's see what happens.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/michiganstate/football/recruiting/player-DeAnthony-Arnett-95912

The top 2 in state recruits.  Thomas is a 5 star recruit LB, a perfect replacement for Greg Jones.

The future looks bright for MSU football when we can grab top in-state recruits over mICHIGAN.

Actually Arnett is making his decision soon.  Thomas is a strong verbal commit.  We shall see if they sign.  They are kids after all.

The Other Guys

So I'm watching this as I write this, kinda dragging out for me.  The humor is funny, but not enough to keep my attention completely.

I'm bored.  I'm gonna finish this movie later.

Rihanna - Loud

I just finished listening to this album.  Definitely a female perspective.  Same "Rihanna" style, but also some songs have a trance feel to them also.  Complicated is like that, and of course Only Girl which was already released.

The hook from Cheers, I'm trying to remember where that's from.  Yeah-e-yeah.   Hmmmm.

It's alright.

S&M, Cheers I think will make the charts.  I'll be curious as to Lie II will do.  I don't remember too many sequel songs.  I think Jay-Z did a few.  Dead presidents if I'm not mistaken.

2010 FBS: My thoughts 11-8-2010

(from mobile)

another week has gone by. Spartans played to expectations. mICHIGAN is going to the Motor City Bowl. BCS Championship Game will be Oregon and TCU. TCU with a key win vs. Utah. Auburn will lose @ Alabama.

Oregon will win the National Championship. Go figure. I remember 1 year a while back, those ducks came to Spartan Stadium and we killed them. So I guess, Ducks as National Champions, that'd be cool.

Spartan Football #10 in the nation. Woo hoo.

Manny Pacquiao - 60 Minutes CBS

Cool Pac-Man is getting recognition on a classier scale. When Roach says he's worried, makes me worry. Margarito is a matchup nightmare. I guess as long as his hands aren't covered with anything illegal (which he got caught on, i believe that is the reason vegas won't grant him a fight) should be a fair fight.

Excited about this one. Can Pacquiao rise above doubts, again? We'll see sat night.

2010, mINNESOTA @ MSU FBS, big ten lookout

This game should be an ass whopin'.  Playing @ home vs. a 8 straight loss team in mINNESOTA, and after a lack luster performance @ iOWA, my prediction is 42-10.

If this game is anything to close, I will be disappointed.

Lets see what happens.

GO STATE!

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(heres a hypothetical)
so oHIO sTATE has to play iOWA @ iOWA.
oHIO sTATE beats iOWA.
iOWA has 2 conference losses, out
MSU wins out
MSU has beaten wISCONSIN who beat oHIO sTATE (all 3 teams have 1 conference loss)
I believe MSU will be given a rose bowl bid.  Now I'm not sure on this, but I think, maybe hope.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Super Side Note:
I had a chance to catch the pre-season opener on tv of the MSU basketball team @ the Breslin vs. Saginaw Valley State.  Man, team looks solid.  #2 pre-season... nice.

It's a great time for Spartan athletics today... and tomorrow looks promising as well.  Yesterday, yeah, that's history.

Now the Pistons, they're the new Lions.  Geez!!!

MSU @ iOWA, what happened?

I tell you what happened goddamnit!!!!!!!

Nothing.  Naw.  I'm trying to play like it's a huge deal but it isn't.  Don't get me wrong, I'm dissappointed, but it wasn't meant to be, just as it wasn't for defending champions Alabama, Mizzou, Oklahoma, or Ohio State.  I'm talking about the national championship though.  I have a feeling it's gonna be Oregon and Boise St. this year.

What I do believe is that Kirk Cousins isn't a NFL caliber prospect.  I read some chatter about him being an outside Heisman candidate (he'd have to win the national championship though).  These probably got to his ears and lost what meant most imo, the hunger to prove everyone wrong.  He probably felt complacent as to what he had already accomplished rather than keeping his eyes on the prize, winning.  I mean how else could one explain 3 ints, 2 early in the game that really turned the game into a rout.  Have to remember though, these are kids, 18-23 year olds.

That's where coaching comes in.  I mean there's only so much a coach can do when your qb's throwing like that.  What do you do or say?  Maybe Cousins and Dantonio aren't that close then.  Dantonio didn't have the words to turn Cousins' mind on (or around).

Bottom line, Spartans looked flat out of the gate.  They seemed to turn it up 4th quarter, but I kinda stopped watching after the 3rd int.  I'm surprised we got a td at all.  Sad to say, but I thought the headlines were gonna read, "Spartans Shut-Out".

I don't think it would be too bold to say that Spartans will win out.  I'm not gonna go so far as to say "SOS - same ole spartans" unless they lose any of the last 3 games.  This iOWA game was tough on paper and it showed.  iOWA came to play, and it seemed the Spartans were overwhelmed by all the hoopla.

I hope the Spartans gained some experience, and I hope this loss will motivate them to finish strong.  The big ten title is still there, but we don't control our own destiny anymore.

I hope Dantonio really learned from this also.

GO STATE!!!

I'm sure others have picked up on this already. Will google tomorrow.

This week in FBS, MSU @ Iowa

A tough place to play. Shit, any road game in the big ten is gonna be tough. I caught the Wis @ Iowa game this past saturday and iowa d is pretty good. Also, iowa football is just that. No pro teams really so the whole state pretty much backs iowa and iowa state (iowa state jus pounced texas on the road). I hope keyshawn martin's knee will be alright. We're gonna need everyone to play top notch this saturday.

Until then... GO STATE!!! Beat iOWA!!!

Saturday, October 23, 2010

OMG, I just had a college flash back.

So I'm watching Man vs. Food Ann Arbor again, waiting for the MSU @ NW game to start (which is cool btw, if it's outside of UmICH athletics, it's all good). Like a ton of bricks I'm reminded of this guy.

Freshman year, I had a class @ Wells Hall, and I'd walk along the river to the back of the building. I'd walk up and every time I had class, this guy was preaching something, religion I'm assuming. Now what I'm thinking now, sometimes 1 person can make an impact or in my case impression.

Now these flashbacks I have are kinda like that scene from ratatouille with anton ego eating the dish, dropping his pen.

Well, kinda.

Coffee (SONG from my childhood)

C,O,F,F,E,E Coffee is just for me.
It's a drink some people wake up with.
That it makes them crazy is no myth.
Slaves to the coffee cup.
They can't give coffee up.

(Actually first line goes coffee is not for me, but I love coffee.)

Go STATE!

Got my picks for the Nov 2nd election...

I always vote. I usually get to the booth and know who i'm gonna vote for in the big races. but when it comes to the smaller races, i'd vote for italians (o's), polish (ski's), women, or just straight democrat, having no idea who they are or what they stand for.

Not this year. I've always known and used publius.org, but this time I'm writing down beforehand who i'm voting for. I did research on each candidate and this is my stradegy this time...

no UmICH alum. of course MSU alum. then where each candidate stands on important issues to me.

So....
for UmICH edu board: 2 liberals
for MSU edu board: 2 dems

others...
(secret).

I know this post is kinda dumb, but the moral of this blog is... i think things are a little fucked up right about now. i'm picking my votes this time, that's the best i can do.

GO VOTE!
http://publius.org/

I'm voting for Rick Snyder even though he's a wOLVERINE.  Bernero just looks like a goon, even though he may have gotten my vote in the past for having an o @ the end of his last name.

MSU @ NW (FBS)

Looks like tomorrow's game is a 12 o'clocker. NW has historically been what i'd like to call a trick play specialist team. I believe they've always ran a spread offense. I'm glad we have already seen that type of team in UmICH and Illinois.

I hope we can pull this one off. Stick with the run and open the pass.

GO STATE!!! Beat Northwestern!!!

#8 Michigan State Spartans 7-0 (3-0); My Thoughts So Far

I look at the football team and think, there really aren't any superstars on this team, but great role players.  Greg Jones is goin' first round, but no one really stands out.  To me, that means coaching.  Mark Dantonio really reminds me of how Izzo started.  I think MSU is gonna try to keep Dantonio around, especially after letting Saban go.  Rarely in life does anyone get a second chance like that.  And I smile when Dantonio himself says he'll be around for a long time.  I hope so.  And Dantonio's recruiting pull is gaining.  We got one of the top LB recruits in the nation.  Rock and roll.

If MSU runs the table this season, that would be magic.  Looking @ their schedule one can come to that expectation, but the big ten has always been a battle ground, a conference of spoilers and upsets.  Northwestern, worries me.  Iowa worries me.  Minnesota worries me.  Purdue worries me.  Penn State especially worries me.  I just hope we play each game with intensity and purpose, and if beaten beat by better play, rather than unforced errors.  3 quality rb's, good qb, good receivers, good o-line=great.

I could say one game @ a time.  F*%k that, GIT-R-DONE!

2010-2011 MSU Midnight Maddness

Spartans, what is your profession? 7-0 tribute (VIDEO)

Kinda Fast Dodge Charger on 696

So I'm hoppin' on the freeway this afternoon and this grey charger was in front of me.  Takes off.  Was kinda fast.  So I step on it a little.  Drive up next to the guy, guy doesn't look, but has a huge grin on his face.  I'd say he was like 40-50 y/o.  Looked at the car, very nice condition.  An older charger, with a hood scoop.  I'm guessing the guy did some engine mod, or even some forced induction... seriously, if you saw this car take off, you'd take a second look.

I guess the moral of the story is, if you keep your stuff nice, respect.

Mid-West: Bitterly Cold and Dry Winter

http://www.farmersalmanac.com/frigid-2010-weather-outlook/

I'm the unsilent majority BIG MOUTH!

biggest flaw of facebook

is that it is people driven.  here's a hypothetical that's not too far fetched...

a clone of facebook, let's call it "life-net.com".  except, your info is sold to advertisers, and guess what, you get a piece of that revenue.  and the other part of that revenue, outside of operation costs, will go to the charity of your choice.  and there will be online pubic votes, as to where other revenue will go.  "life-net" will be both capitalism and democracy digitalized and truly realized.

now presented with a choice... my social network, it's gonna go to the good fight, not the facebook pocket books, or possibly facebook investors.

the future will be the battle of the social networks.

"join life-net, where you count and all profits go to charity".  "check and confirm our books"

then there will be other "life-net"s, and guess what, they join forces because the user chooses the beneficiary, something commercial social networks cannot do.

then fb in a battle will claim that the social network model is theirs, but will lose out in the end, cause you can't beat charity.

OR FB goes non-profit.

the end

Dance 3-6-0

'till fb starts paying me to use their site, i'm boycotting/limiting use of fb

truth be told, my opinion, facebook is not all that.  and what makes facebook different from google, we are the content, not websites.  either the revenue should be shared with the users or the revenue should go to a good cause(s).

why?  the social network, the movie.  i mean come on.  then in the trailer, i heard something about a billion dollars?  you, I, it's from our use.  I'm only 1 person, and fb will go on, but I'm not contributing anymore 'till 100% of that revenue goes to where it belongs... the people.  we don't need another microsoft or google.  it's time for something different.

just my 2 cents.
